KGHA: Judiciary Retirement, KGSIP, Meat Hygiene Bills & 2 Others, Passed Into Law

The Kogi State House of Assembly (KGHA) has passed five Bills into Law.

The bills were passed into law by members of the House on Thursday in Lokoja after the clause by clause considerations.

The bill passed into law by the lawmakers are;

1. a Bill for a Law to provide for the Retirement of Judiciary Staff in Kogi State and Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2024.

2. a Bill for a Law to Repeal and Re-enact the Customary Court of Appeal (Establishment) Law, 2008 and Other Matters Connected Therewith.

3. a Bill for a Law to Establish the Kogi State Meat Hygiene and Inspection Law and Other Matters Connected, 2024.

4. a Bill for a Law for the Establishment of the Kogi State Social Investment Programme, Agency (KGSIP/KGSIA) and Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2023.

5. a Bill for a Law for the Establishment of Kogi State Secondary Board and Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2024.

The Chairman of the Committee of Whole, who doubles as the Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Nwuchiola oversees the consideration of the bills clause by clause by the lawmakers in the House.

Earlier, a Bill for a Law to Establish Kogi State College of Agriculture, Ochaja-Egume, and Other Purposes Connected Therewith, 2024 passed through second reading.

Leading the debate at the floor of the house on Thursday, Rt. Hon. Enema Paul of Dekina (Okura) I Constituency argued that, the college when established will not only serve as a fertile ground that will build the required intellectual capacity needed to enhance agricultural output in the State.
