EFCCVsYahayaBello: Rejoinder; Okun Youth Like Minds Group Rejects Misguided Allegiances And Upholds Integrity.

In response to the recent press conference held by a group claiming to represent Okun Youths in Kogi State, “it is imperative to address the misguided sentiments expressed therein”, Omotayo Adeyanju the convener has said.

The assertions made by this group, purportedly in support of former Governor Yahaya Bello and their condemnation of the EFCC’s actions, are not reflective of the values and principles upheld by the Okun community.

Firstly, it is essential to highlight the glaring lack of foresight and integrity demonstrated by those who organized and spoke at the press conference. By blindly rallying behind an individual facing serious allegations of embezzlement and corruption, they have chosen to prioritize personal allegiances over the pursuit of justice and accountability.

This not only undermines the rule of law but also tarnishes the reputation of the Okun people, who are known for their commitment to honesty and hard work.

Furthermore, the assertion that former Governor Bello is being unfairly targeted by the EFCC without substantiated evidence is misleading and irresponsible. It is the duty of law enforcement agencies to investigate allegations of financial misconduct, regardless of the individual’s status or political affiliation.

To dismiss such investigations as mere “media trials” is to disregard the seriousness of the allegations and the need for accountability in public office.

Additionally, the decision to express unwavering support for someone who has been declared wanted by the EFCC is deeply concerning and reflects a lack of moral compass on the path of those involved. Upholding the rule of law and holding public officials accountable for their actions should always take precedence over personal loyalty or political allegiances.

As members of the Okun community, we reject and disassociate ourselves from the sentiments expressed by this group of individuals. Our identity is not defined by blind loyalty or the pursuit of personal gain at the expense of integrity. We pride ourselves on our hard work, honesty, and commitment to upholding the principles of justice and accountability.

In conclusion, the press conference organized by these individuals does not represent the values or beliefs of the Okun people. We refuse to be associated with such misguided and morally bankrupt actions. Instead, we reaffirm our commitment to standing on the side of justice and integrity, even when it may be inconvenient or uncomfortable.
