PERISCOPING THE 2027 FROM NOW – By Abdulsalam Bawa DANGANA

Democracy itself is essentially about advocacy; dialogue; lobby, and integration of ideas on a popular national assignment that has to do with peoples’ lives (citizens’ lives) now, and in the future time to come. Both the executive and legislative arms of government, especially with the legislature are duty bound to interface and interact with the Nigerian Citizens whom they represent as their Constituents.

It is not, and won’t be out of place for any elected representative (at whatever level of representation) to wish for a second term of office, and Office of the President of the Federal Republic is not an exception.

Periscoping the future time from present, if President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR wants and wishes to win 2027 election for a successful second term, then, he must resolve all the lingering crises and political fracases ravaging some States in our Geo-political Zones without any further delay.

1) WIKE vs FUBARA

Rivers issues is one of the cases in view because, Rivers State is very important in the political calculation and trajectory of Nigeria. It’s either Mr. President Tinubu settles Wike and Fubara or he subtly support the impeachment of Fubara. From all indications and body language, Fubara is already working for ATIKU.

2) EL-RUFAI vs UBA SANI

In the political history of Nigeria, we are aware that Kaduna State is the melting pot (political boiling point) of northern region and by extension Nigeria. With the recent visitations and interactive discussions with opposition leaderships by Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai portends some dangerous signs. It is speculated El-Rufai might take a shot in the Presidential contest. Kaduna State is very strategically placed.

3) AKUME vs ALIA

The issue in Benue State between the current SGF Sen. George Akume, a two term Governor, former Senator and former Minister of Special Duties and Incumbent Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia is unfortunate. Though, it’s believed that the differences between the duo have been resolved, much needed to be done to stabilize APC’s hold and grips for future elections in Benue State.

4) PHILIP SHAIBU vs OBASEKI

Edo State political crises has been both inter and intra party related laced with sectional crave for supremacy and leadership as per who call the shots. Though, there is more to this facts than meet the eyes. Recalling with nostalgia the hydraheaded handling of the situation in Edo State by both interested parties – Executive, Judiciary and Legislative arms of Government.

In the Six (6) Geo-political Zones of Nigeria, there are States you don’t play with in terms of awareness, voting strength and political manoeuvring. Amongst others which are:-

North Central:

1. Benue State
2. Kwara State
3. Kogi State
4. Plateau State

North East:

1. Adamawa State
2. Bauchi State
3. Borno State
4. Gombe

North West:

1. Kaduna State
2. Kano State
3. Katsina State
4. Sokoto State

South East:

1. Anambra State
2. Ebonyi State
3. Enugu State
4. Imo State

South West:

1. Lagos State
2. Ogun State
3. Osun State
4. Oyo State

South South:

1. Akwa Ibom
2. Cross River State
3. Edo State
4. Rivers State

NOTE:

It is my hope and prayer; as I will also advice that our party, APC and His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR takes these earlier enumerated issues very seriously.

A stitch in time saves many.

Dr. Abdulsalam Bawa DANGANA, writes from Lokoja, the Confluence of Opportunities Capital, Kogi State.
