WORLD WATER DAY 2024: “Hygienic Water is Life, Contaminated Water Kills” – Kogi RUWASSA Boss Warns

As the World Water Day is marked Today, 22nd March 2024, the people of Kogi State and Nigerians in general, have been advised to avoid contaminating Water source.

The Managing Director, Kogi State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Hon. Ahovi Salam Ibrahim, gave the advice in a telephone interview with our Correspondent.

Hon. Ahovi said the need to have hygienic water for drinking cannot be overemphasized, calling on the people to avoid contaminating water source as such will lead to diseases that will eventually damage the body system if not properly taken care of.

“It is often said that WATER IS LIFE. But I will make it clear today that IT IS CLEAN AND HYGIENIC WATER that is life because CONTAMINATED WATER KILLS

“Kogites and Nigerians in general should try as much as possible to avoid pouring or dumping harmful substances into the water. Some are used to defecating in the water under the guise that it is flowing

“I tell you, some people are drinking from that same water somewhere and they will not be aware that it has been contaminated already by through the wrong activities of some

“So my message to all is that we should avoid activities that will contaminate our water. Let us ensure we consume clean and hygienic water at all times”Hon. Ahovi stressed.

The RUWASSA Boss in Kogi State appreciated the State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo for his all-round developmental plans for the State, expressing confidence that the Governor will use RUWASSA to bring water closer to the people at all nooks and crannies of the State.

He said it was important to celebrate the World Water Day to appreciate the unquantifiable value of water, describing it a substance needed by all on daily basis for various purposes by both man, animal and plants.

Every year, the 22nd of March marks World Water Day, a day for reflection and to spur action to tackle the global water crisis.

The 2024 edition of the celebration has the theme: ‘Leveraging Water For Peace’
