Kogi COET, Honour Awards; Mopa Welfare Society Thanks Gov. Bello

The apex socio-cultural and development organ of all Mopa people both home and diaspora, Mopa Welfare Society, has expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello on behalf of all Mopa people.

In a statement issued by the President of the Society, Chief Samuel Elere, thanked Governor Bello for his huge impact on the traditional institution in Mopa by grading and upgrading some of the Kings in the Local Government Area.

He also thanked the Governor for signing the bill establishing the College of Education Technical Mopa into law.

The President also give kudos to the Governor for selecting three worthy sons of Mopa Kingdom among the 79 distinguished Nigerians to be given the Kogi State Honour Award.

“These are Senator Sunday Bolorunduro Awoniyi (CON), former Chairman Arewa Consultative Forum, former Super Permanent Secretary Ministry of Interiors and later Ministry of Petroleum; Chief Samuel Ola Akande, a distinguished administrator, businessman and former Deputy Governor of Kogi State and HRH Chief Clarence Olafemi, Oba of Okedagun Mopa, former Minority Leader Kogi State House of Assembly, former Speaker kogi State House of Assembly and former Governor (acting capacity) Kogi State.

“No doubt, Mopa people have been wonderful citizens of Kogi State all along and will continue to give our utmost best for the success of the State,” he said.

The Society wished the Governor a healthy and more prosperous future as he will be handing over to his successor, Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman this weekend.
