“I Have Lost Confidence In The Judiciary” – Melaye

The Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded Kogi Governorship Election, Senator Dino Melaye, has said that he will not contest the electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he has lost confidence in the Judiciary.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Melaye accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Judiciary of being the greatest threat to democracy in the country.
Melaye cited the situations in Kano and Plateau States where he alleged that the Judiciary is being used to take away the mandate freely given to opposition parties.
“Participation by opposition political parties in future pre-written election results under a morally and ethically challenged Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Electoral Commission amounts to giving legitimacy and credence to the continued rape of democracy in Nigeria.
“Judiciary is no longer the last hope of the ordinary people, it’s now a department under the All Progressives Congress.
“Why should any responsible person go to the tribunal when the APC has captured the judiciary? I’ve lost complete confidence in the judiciary,” he said.
Melaye called on all opposition political parties to forthwith boycott all future elections unless and until the current INEC is dissolved and a new set of nonpartisan Chairman and Commissioners are appointed.
