Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency and the Chairman House Committee on Customs and Excise has received an Award of Excellence in Nigerian Grassroot Development, the award which was presented by the Nigerian Leadership Awards in Grassroots Development from the Presidency through the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Logistics in recognition of his positive contributions to the development of grassroots.
Following an independent assessment and nominations, Hon. Abejide was distinguished to be one of the recipients of the Award Excellence as a man who stands out in grassroots development, reviewing his contributions and impacts which are immense through exemplary leadership in advancing inclusive and sustainable development after a 2-day seminar titled Strengthing Local Governance for Sustainable Grassroots Development.
Hon. Leke Abejide was honoured with the Nigerian Leadership Awards in Grassroots Development in recognition of his grassroots development, leadership and philanthropic contributions to humanity which encompasses his outstanding performance as a federal lawmaker.
The organiser’s goal is to provide comprehensive training that will equip all participants to become global leaders and experts in their respective fields of endeavor especially strengthing local governance and rural development.
During the presentation, some of the achievements of Hon. Leke Abejide were greatly attributed in the aspects of infrastructural development, human capacity-building, rehabilitation of rural roads and many others in the last seven years at the grassroots level to have deserved accolades as he received the award.
Hon. Leke Abejide appreciated the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Office of the Special Assistant to President on Logistics for finding him worthy of this recognition amongst many people, while congratulating other recipients of the award of recognition for their out standing performances to have earned the great honour.
“I want to congratulate other award recipients for standing out, this shows that whatever you are doing people are watching with keen interest. Myself and my wife Mrs. Esther Abejide started reaching out to people by taking a communal responsibility through our foundation, Leke Abejide Foundation especially during festive seasons, we also started the payment of Waec fees before the House of Representatives election in 2019, through the communal responsibility we have touched lives of widows and less privileged and also built a 350- capacity ICT centre in Yagba, I didn’t know that some of the grassroots outreach are being monitored from above by our leaders. This is a testament that whatever you are doing don’t relent, maintain the tempo, he said.
Hon. Leke Abejide advised other recipients of the award to continue to do what is noble as all deeds will be rewarded by God, as he retraited that he will never relent in giving back to the society by uplifting the people at grassroots through developmental programs that will affect lives positively.
