A group of leaders of the North-East geo-political zone under the umbrella of North-East Elders Forum (NEEF), has described the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio as an exceptional leader and a protector of the pillars of justice, democracy and integrity.
The Group gave the commendation in a statement after her meeting in Jalingo, Taraba State Capital.
The statement which was signed by the Chairman, North-East Elders Forum (NEEF), Alhaji Ibrahim Zakari, praised Chief Akpabio for serving the Country’s strategic interests, advancing fundamental values and accelerating job and income growth.
The prominent elders who are indignant at the contempt shown for the Senate President, his Office and for the National Assembly, applauded Akpabio for being a kind, well mannered personality with unpretentious nature.
‘’Senator Godswill Akpabio is intelligent, well coordinated personality and committed to the unity of Nigeria. He is working in good faith with His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu and his colleagues (Senators) to keep the Country moving forward
“We hail Akpabio for the Country’s financial plan, strategy for fighting terror, genuine commitment to bringing economic opportunity to all, steadfast commitment to peace and openness to new ideas from all quarters
“As a Group, we underscored Akpabio’s role in restoring economic growth, reasserting Nigeria’s leadership in the international system, increasing confidence in the integrity of politicians and commitment to supporting Nigerians in their efforts to find peace and prosperity”, the statement read in part.
The notable elders described the alleged N3 trillion budget padding story making the rounds as absurd and empty, asserting that Senator Godswill Akpabio is a moral force in Nigerian politics and remain credible on public issues.
The elders urged haters and extremists to reassess their words and attitude toward the Senate Leadership, emphasizing that the huge legislative task before Akpabio, requires the support of all to enable the Senators succeed.
The elders scolded detractors for bad-mouthing the senate leadership and demanding the resignation of Akpabio and that of his Deputy, Jibrin Barau.
