Igalamela/Odolu LGA Preparea For Rainy Season To Avert Flooding And Erosion Menace

Flooding and erosion has posed serious concern for residents of Ajaka metropolis in Igalamela/Odolu local government area, especially during rainy seasons.

These menace has over the years caused devastating threats, damaged valuables and claimed lives in some cases leaving residents in intense fear of rainy season which ordinarily should come with excitement.

The tarred road through Ajaka has drainage control system in major parts of the stretch. However, the drainage is completely blocked by non decomposing rubbishes deposited by some residents and rainfall leading to flooding and serious erosion.

To avert flooding and reduce erosion threats in the area, the administration of Hon. Barr. Cosmas Atabor has commenced immediate intervention measure through the clearing of blocked waterways and opening up other drainages to allow for free flow of water to mitigate the perennial threats and damages caused by these menace.

The Chief of Staff, Hon. Zekeri Adama and supervisory councilor for Works, Hon. Isah Bello were on ground to supervise the work.

As a responsive and responsible administration, the chairman is making further effort to have relevant government agencies attend to the ecological problems in the area and also hinted that a stakeholders meeting shall be convened soon to educate and caution residents against unethical practices that cause blockage of waterways in the area.
