2 Died In Road Accident In Kogi

Two persons have been confirmed dead in a ghastly motor accident along Ogori–Magongo road in Kogi state.

According to findings, one of the deceased victim of the accident was identified as John Aisoni, a commercial motorcyclist (okada rider) in the area.

The other victim, a female, worked in a micro finance bank in the same local government.

It was gathered that the okada rider died immediately as a result of the fatal accident. However, the female banker was said to be unconscious and was rushed to Ogori general hospital. She later died.

According to eye witnesses, the incident which happened at about 2PM on Thursday, was caused by over speeding.

Kogi State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Oyedeji Samuel, confirmed the incident on Friday afternoon, attributing the accident to wrong overtaking.

“The accident was between a commercial motor cyclist and a Toyota Venza car. There was wrong over taking which led to this ghastly motor accident.

“Two persons have been confirmed dead and has since be deposited in morgue in nearby Edo State while the other person is receiving treatment at Ogori General Hospital,” he said.

Oyedeji advised motorists to avoid over speeding and ensure they abide by all the rules guiding driving.
