The Speaker explained that Ramadan is a sacred month in which Muslims are expected to totally commit to acts of worship and avoid anything that would vitiate their fast.
He used the occasion to congratulate the State Governor, HE Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo and members of his cabinet over the commencement of the 2024 Ramadan, and called on Muslims to continue to pray for the betterment of the Nation – Nigeria, even in the face of the current difficulty being faced.
He urged Nigerians and the people of Kogi State not to lose faith in the ability of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to bringing succour to them as demonstrated in the many intervention packages of government, stating that they are not resting on their desire to see a better citizenry.
Rt. Hon. Umar also advised Muslims to remember the State legislature in their supplications because they are a collective that is ready to roll out good legislations and programmes that would move the state forward.
To effectively do that, the Speaker enjoined Islamic faithful to engage in supregatory prayers (Nafila), recite the Holy Qur’an, give alms, be gentle and peaceful in their conducts and always have the remembrance of Allah in whatever they do throughout the Ramadan period and beyond.
While praying for a successful fasting period, he expressed the belief that succour would come to Kogi State at the end of it all.
