Breaking: KSYP Speaker Resigns, Declares Constituency Seat Vacant

The Speaker of Kogi State Youth Parliament, Ibikunle Adebayo Olajide has resigned.

He made this know in a statement sent to KogiOnlineNg which read thus;

Dear Kogi State Youths

LETTER OF RESIGNATION

My attention has been drawn to plans of some persons within and outside the Parliament to impeach me as the Speaker of Kogi State Youth Parliament.

I have carefully studied the situation which is Politically volatile, these hideous members and non-members are fueled and propelled by undue political influence, prejudice and most importantly, unrealistic malicious demands for dividend of the Parliament’s scarce resources.

I am freely electing to resign my position as the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Kogi State Youth Parliament and also my Membership of the Parliament representing Yagba East constituency having served as Speaker from November 26th, 2022 – May 21st, 2024 as record would have it hereby declaring the constituency seat vacant.

Moving forward, I appreciate the Kogi State Government under His Excellency , Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, Former Governor of Kogi State for proclamation of the parliament and the opportunity given to me to serve , especially including Youth in decision making through the Parliament as a critical index of good governance in democracy.

Also, esteemed appreciation to the former Chief of Staff to the Ex Governor of Kogi State, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu ASUKU, my Boss Pharm. Ahmadu Jibril Oludare ( Former Special Adviser on Youths and Students Affairs to the Ex Governor of Kogi State), Hon. Bamidele Eyitayo Onile, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, relevant stakeholders and the current Commissioner for Youths and Sport Development Kogi State, Hon Anyebe Monday for his concern and wise counsel.

The trust that the youths and all the members of the parliament have reposed in me to lead the Parliament, my vow and resolve to serve with all fairness, transparency, justice and equity remains fresh just as the day I took oath of the office as the Speaker.

This has always driven my goals and intentions for the Parliament.

It is based on the above that I strongly take this strong decision.

Please accept the assurances of my highest regard.

Ibikunle Adebayo Olajide

21 May 2024.
