ECN Signs Collaboration Agreement with Aspitah Global Resources Ltd. to Develop Jatropha Oil and Biodiesel Value Chain in Nigeria

The Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) has signed a Collaboration Agreement with the Aspitah Global Resources Ltd. to champion the development of Jatropha Oil and biodiesel value chain in Nigeria.

The Partnership deal which was signed in Abuja, is to ensure growth and progress in the renewable energy sector.

It also focus on Training, Research, and Development of Jatropha and other related renewable technologies at the farm, fostering innovation and capacity building, enable the development of expertise and skills in the renewable energy sector, and as well, create job opportunities and promote sustainable development.

The Head of ECN, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, said the initiative aligns with the Commission’s vision to promote energy security, job creation, and sustainable development.

“I appreciate the trust and cooperation of the team, at Aspitah Global Resources Ltd and look forward to the impactful outcomes of our collaboration

“Together, we will reduce Nigeria’s reliance on fossil fuels, mitigate climate change, and achieve our renewable energy targets. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to promoting energy security, job creation, and sustainable development

“I am excited about the possibilities that this collaboration presents, and I am confident that our partnership will make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector”, he added.

On her part, the Chief Executive Officer of Aspitah Global Resources Ltd., Ms. Latifah Aspitah Isah, described the Partnership as a remarkable step in the journey towards Net Zero Emission and a step towards the pursuit of a decarbonized Nigeria as they explore Nature Based Solution for Mitigation and Adaptation of Climate Change.

“The Jatropha Value chain offers an Ecosystem of Sustainable Environmental Impact for People and Planet while the Jatropha tree sequesters Carbon, the Biodiesel that will be produced from the seed oil will be used at 20% blends with fossil Diesel to reduce carbon emissions in diesel engines and the Jatropha plantations across the country will provide a sustainable means of Livelihood for rural women and Youths as well as provide Clean Cooking solutions for women
