Hon. Monday Amoka Eneji, the Executive Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area (LGA), has commissioned solar-powered streetlights in Ohuepe community, Omavi, Uboro-Ohupe ward.
This significant initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Eika Ehi Development Association, who generously financed the project as a way of giving back to the community.
The commissioning ceremony, which took place earlier today, was attended by Hon. Eneji, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Matthew James Omeiza, Hon Jacob Enesi the PA Domestic, Hon James Sunday, the SSA on Youth development, Hon Olu Jatto, the Okehi LGA Revenue Chairman, the Supervisor for education, Hon Abdulmaliki Ismaila was also in attendance and other cabinet members. During the event, Hon. Eneji commended the Eika Ehi Development Association for their total commitment to the community’s development and pledged to meet the needs of the Ohepe people and Okehi LGA at large.
In his speech, Hon. Eneji highlighted the numerous benefits of solar streetlights in a community like Ohuepe. He emphasized that the solar streetlights will Enhance security and safety for residents, particularly at night, increase productivity and economic activity by enabling businesses to operate for longer hour and Promote environmental sustainability by reducing the community’s reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating climate change
Hon. Eneji’s commitment to supporting community-driven initiatives is a testament to his dedication to the welfare of the people of Okehi LGA. This project serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when community leaders and organizations work together towards a common goal.
