“It is in sadness of heart that we received the news of the tragic death of two female students of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi. We understand that they lost their lives in a stampede at the University’s convocation square on Friday
“The two young female students were said to have been suffocated by the crowd while trying to get a share of the palliative provided, leading to their death. We cannot imagine the horror they must have experienced in their final moments, and our hearts ache for their families and friends who are left to mourn their tragic loss
“Our hearts goes out to their families, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. It is our prayer that Allah will grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss as we also grieve with the entire Nasarawa State University community at a time like this
“We urge the University to investigate the event that led to this tragedy so that such a thing will not occur again. We also enjoined the University to implement better crowd control measures, such as clearly marked entrances and exits and increase the number of security and emergency staff on hand at major events
“There should be a review of the University’s Emergency procedures to ensure that they are adequate to deal with a situation like this in the future. It is our hope that by taking these steps, we can prevent future tragedies”, She added.
