Igalamela/Odolu LGA To Partner Kogi RAAMP For Rural Development

The Transition Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, Hon. Cosmas Atabor has reiterated his commitment towards the development of all rural areas in the Area.

He gave the assurance at a meeting with the World Bank Team on sensitization and risk assessment with a representative of Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP.

The meeting was in furtherance of his readiness to partner donor and other government agencies for the development of earmarked markets within the Local Government.

The meeting revealed that part of the project’s objectives is to ensure improved access to markets for farmers in Igalamela/Odolu and boost agricultural productivity in the region.

The Transition Chairman assured of his readiness at renovating the markets within the LG and the Local Governments readiness to enter BOT partnerships with entities with verifiable capacity.

“We are also looking at setting up training programs for local farmers to help them improve their agricultural practices and increase their yields”, he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Transition Chairman has ordered the dismantling and removal of all illegal road blocks between the Okpachalla, Ayah and Egbolo axis of Igalamela/Odolu LGA.

The order which takes immediate effect is in line with the State Government’s directive that revenue collection at Local Government level be centralized to a point of loading or takeoff.
