Water: NULGE Awards, Kogi Commissioner Assures Wider Reach Uinterrupted Supply

The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Muhammed Faruk, has disclosed that Lokoja metropolis will begin receiving adequate water supply from this week. He assured that the supply would have wider reach, extending to other areas like Phase II and other parts of Kogi State in due course.

The Commissioner made this statement while receiving an award of excellence from the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (M&HWUN), Lokoja Local Government chapters.

Also honoured by the Lokoja chapter of the union was the immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area and the current Chairmanship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu. They were decorated at the Lokoja Local Government Legislative Chamber.

Another awardee was the Head of the Department (HoD), Education and Social Services in Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Sefiya Orahanoh Abubakar, who was awarded the Most Friendly and Reliable HoD in Lokoja Local Government.

In his remarks, the Commissioner appreciated the NULGE Executive Members in Lokoja for the honour, describing it as a source of encouragement.

Faruk dedicated his award to the state governor, Alhaji Anmed Usman Ododo, who, he said, gave them the wings to fly and operate for a better state. He added that the award would motivate him and others to deliver more services to humanity and Kogi State.

According to him, “It is humbling to find myself and other awardees honoured by such a reputable group as the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (M&HWUN), Lokoja Local Government Chapter.

“At the same time, I believe this is one honour we will not forget in a hurry, because we all know what NULGE represents. For them to have found us worthy of this honour in our different fields of endeavour is a big surprise.

“So, I want to thank every one of you, the members and the executive members of NULGE, who have found us worthy of this honour.

“So, I thank NULGE for this opportunity. I want to express my great appreciation to them, right from the National President to the Lokoja chapter.”

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairmanship Candidate of the APC in Lokoja Local Government Area, Abdullahi Adamu, charged NULGE Executives in the state to continue to complement the government’s efforts in improving the living conditions of the citizens.

He congratulated the other awardees, describing them as worthy ambassadors, and advised them not to relent in their service to humanity and the state.

In his address at the occasion, the former Chairman of NULGE in the state, Comrade Tom Abutu, said the awardees were selected on merit and encouraged them to do more for society.
