THE FIFTH COLUMNIST POSTURE OF BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU, GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE AND THE PROTESTANT NATURE OF THE YORUBA PEOPLE – BY Like Minds Alliance Pressure Group

A fifth Columnist is someone who belongs to a Group where he is a beneficiary of the policies of the Group, yet kicks against the same policies he is benefitting from. It is disheartening that BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU, the Executive Governor of Lagos State can allow a mass protest against the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his Chief benefactor, knowing fully well that there is no single protest in the Country that does not end up being hijacked by hoodlums and eventually leads to loss of lives and property.

History tells us that no single protest in Nigeria has achieved it’s aims and objectives rather it puts money in the pockets of self acclaimed Civil Society Organization Leaders. It is disheartening that after rising to prominence on the platform of the POLICIES designed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he now sees the attending effects of the same POLICIES that is aimed at righting the WRONGS of past government policies as anti-people.

We are quick to ask this question, “why is it that when Leaders from other ethnic groups are in government, nobody deems it fit to organize a Masses oriented Protest?”

It is on record that no single ethnic group except the Yoruba criticize their own when they are in position of power. Go down memory lane and confirm this.

To compound this anomaly is the unwholesome attitude of some of the prominent Yoruba elders who find nothing wrong in quickly organising Masses oriented protests and criticising their own, whenever they are in power. This unwholesome attitude made the late sage Awolowo to rain a curse on the Yoruba Nation, a curse many believe is affecting the race till date until the miraculous emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Nation.

We keep comparing Nigeria to Western Countries like USA, Britain and others, forgetting that these are advanced Nations where it’s citizenry are educated, exposed and who have working Constitutions that are obeyed by both the Government and it’s people. Here in third World Countries, the reverse is the case as the Government and it’s people both float the laws of the Nation.

We are surprised that majority of our people are not seeing the manifestation of a New dawn in the Country as a result of the radical positive approach of the Tinubu-led government. We are confident to say without mincing words that the Ododo-led government in Kogi State is performing creditably well beyond the wildest imagination of all and sundry going by the unimaginable policies he is reeling out among which are prompt payment of salaries, improved security measures, infrastructural development and social welfarism policies, all of which are as a result of the conducive and friendly atmosphere enabled by the Tinubu-led government.

We are yet to come to terms with reality that the States where hardships are WELL pronounced are States where the Governors have failed to make use of the funds released to them on a monthly basis by the Federal government. We are imploring all Nigerian citizens, especially, Kogi State people to disassociate themselves from this phoney protest which is the handwork of the enemies of our great Country, e.g the various feudal cabals that are found in various sector of our Nation’s economy. Interestingly, to make you know Kogi State has no business joining the purported protest, we have an excellent performing youthful Governor and a two term winner of the Best performing House of Representatives Member in the Country in person of Hon. Leke Abejide, MHR Yagba Federal Constituency House of Representatives, a Man with many names among which are “Oko Opo (lover of Youth empowerment), aggressive COMMUNITY developer, icon of open door policy and above all, a servant LEADER.

On a final note we are appealing to Yoruba people to desist from this evil attitude of criticising their own kith and kin whenever they are in position of power “as it indicates Envy” by going down memory lane to listen the music of the late legendary Hubert Ogunde who foresaw the future and warned us in his hit track “Yoruba Ronu ooo”.
