Dr. Dangana highlighted the achievements of Senator Karimi since his assumption of Office, emphasizing that he deserves to be praised by all and sundry.

“Seated before you are representatives of the National Bodies of various Students’ Associations that are Indigenous to Kogi West Senatorial District which includes Lokoja, Kogi, Kabba-Bunu, Ijumu, Mopamuro, Yagba East and Yagba West LGAs respectively. Also, present is the Chairman/Project Manager and some Members of the Senator Sunday Karimi’s One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) Bursary Award Scheme for 1,000 Kogi West Students in Public Tertiary Institutions.

“Sincerely, as Students’ Leaders who understands the importance of education and what our members passes through in sourcing for funds needed in School activities, truly and profoundly appreciates the relentless efforts of Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, for this opportunity given to our teeming members to benefit from this Annual Bursary Award Initiative. This is to say the least, unprecedented and first of it’s kind both in magnitude and Students captured. As Stakeholders in this Project, we have confirmed the ingenuity in the heart and deeds of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi since he became a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, through his numerous Programmes such as building a Military Base in Egbe, Yagba West LGA, influencing the palliative repairs of the hitherto forgotten Iluhagba-Egbe Federal Road, influencing the construction of an educational facility of about One Billion and Two Hundred Million Naira (N1,200,000,000) in Kogi LGA, supporting the construction of Security Base at Kogi State University (KSU), Kabba, in Kabba-Bunu LGA with a sum of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000), supplying of several trailer loads of Rice and Semovita at different times to all the 7 LGAs in Kogi West all within a year of stewardship.

“We are categorically saying too, that the sum of One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) Only was truly set aside in a dedicated Bank Account for this laudable initiative geared towards supporting the education of our members, basically those from Kogi West who truly meets up with the basic requirements of Students which were in itself, a decision agreed by us and the Committee Members of the Bursary Scheme.

“Worthy of mentioning here also, is that, this funds set aside for this Programme is coming at the same time the Senator has graciously also set aside another huge sum of money to the tune of another One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) Only for Fifty (50) Women Cooperative Societies across the Seven (7) LGAs of Kogi West Senatorial District of the following LGAs: Lokoja, Kogi, Kabba-Bunu, Ijumu, Mopamuro, Yagba East, Yagba West respectively.

“To this end, the Kogi West Students’ Union Bodies Leadership, and the Senator Sunday Karimi’s One Hundred Million Naira Students’ Bursary Award Committee are dismayed by the dubious and satanic activities of some unscrupulous elements who are hell-bent on trying to frustrate and truncate this commendable initiative. This Programme that was set in motion to seeing that the Constituents of Kogi West find financial buffer in their educational pursuit for Students in Public Tertiary Institutions across Nigeria through this Bursary Award of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) Only to each of the One thousand Students (1,000) Beneficiaries can not be allowed to pass us bye. The One Thousand Successful Beneficiaries that would be seamlessly but transparently chosen on the basis of eligibility, and must have met up with laid down requirements of submitting their basic informations electronically, evidence of Admission Letter, Students’ Identification Card, Students’ State of Origin obtained at their respective Local Government Councils which would be spread across all the eighty five (85) Wards in Kogi West”, he explained.

Dr. Bawa Dangana encouraged Senator Karimi to continue with his good works and also improve on it, advising him not to be discouraged by the negative comments of those who are not happy because of his numerous achievements within his short period of time in Office.

“One would think that all right thinking persons will appreciate this project and give it the maximum needed support to see to its fruition particularly when Kogi West is widely known for her penchant for education. This is rightly so when even the economy is facing several degrees of challenges and when various stakeholders, government institutions, private organizations and non-governmental organizations are campaigning for the need to improving on our education no matter the attendant challenges faced.

“However, we are using this medium as representatives of the Kogi West Students and Youths with which this Programme was intended for, to encourage our Father, Leader and Representative, Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi not to be deterred in discharging his legislative responsibilities and oversights functions, including developmental programmes that can lead to the progress and empowerment of the Kogi West Constituents which also includes delivering dividends of democracy to his Constituents in Kogi West.

“On the strength of character, emotional stability, maturity and resilience of Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, we are unanimously passing a VOTE OF CONFIDENCE on the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the Red Chamber of National Assembly, while urging him to continue with his good works which he has started and building a legacy of development, capacity, empowerment and influence in the interest of democracy, good governance and progress of Motherland

“In the same vein, Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi has at various times salutes the Youths of Kogi State cutting across the 21 Local Government Areas for shunning the ongoing “Nationwide Hunger Protest” on the hardship being faced by Citizens of the Country. Acknowledging the fact of the substance of inflation both in the micro and macro economics of the Country but appreciating the resilience and support of Kogi State Youths who chose not to side with political propaganda of the event but rather, staying on the path of loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and supporting every programmes and policies of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, knowing that the “Renewed Hope” Agenda was promised on patience, perseverance and time which are essentials in achieving greatness and long lasting solution to our national problems

“We hereby, use this opportunity to appeal to the Federating Units and the Federal Government to do the needful by urgently addressing the economic hardship being faced by the Citizens. We acknowledged and appreciates the efforts of Kogi State Government under the dynamic and pragmatic leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA, the Executive Governor of Kogi State who has shown his willingness to confronting the situation head-on by engaging relevant Stakeholders in the State to see reason why going on protest changes nothing which is so far the reason we are having relative peace as against other States where hoodlums have been destroying and carting away properties lawfully acquired by it’s original owners. Thank you for listening with rapt attention. GOD Bless You All”.

Similarly, the National President of Okun Students’ Body in Kogi West and Member of the DSSSK Students’ Bursary Award Scheme Committee, Comr. Emmanuella Omolara Omoniyi, said the ongoing DSSSK Students’ Bursary Award Initiative is free to all Tertiary Institutions Students of Kogi West extraction across Nigeria, warning them against paying money to anyone hiding under any guise.

Comr. Emmanuella appreciated Senator Karimi for making the welfare of Students a priority, praying God to continue to give him more wisdom and enablement to deliver on his mandate.
