Okun State: Abejide Reaffirms Mobilization of Colleagues for Okun Dream, Ensures Completion of ODA House

Rep. Leke Abejide, a member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Okun dream for state creation and beyond as he has also pledged to mobilize his colleagues to support Okun Development Association’s (ODA’s) initiatives.

Rep. Abejide said this during a meeting of the ODA with members of the National Assembly in his office to discuss key issues affecting Okunland, including the creation of Okun State and security in stakeholder engagement.

He also promised to ensure the completion of the ODA House project in Kabba.

According to Dayo Thomas, National Publicity Secretary of ODA, the creation of Okun State is indeed part of a larger proposal to create 30 new states in Nigeria. This proposal is currently being reviewed by the National Assembly.

The ODA delegation was warmly welcomed by Hon. Salman Idris and Hon. Suleiman D. Aguye, on behalf of other members of the National Assembly from Okun extraction, marking a significant moment in their advocacy for the creation of Okun State.

Led by President-General, Amb. Akenson Rotimi, the team consisted of Alhaji Adoga Ibrahim, VP North; Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, Secretary of the Elders Council; Hon. Bolanle Amupitan, Abuja Liaison Officer; Mr. Hussein Folorunsho, Deputy Social Secretary; and Chief J.O Yusuf, representing the ODA Committee on Restructuring.

Discussions are also centred on how to promote investments in extractive industries to leverage the region’s mineral resources for sustainable development.
