The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC), Kogi State chapter, would like to officially dissociate the students community under our leadership from the planned national protest scheduled to hold later in August.
We have carefully observed that previous protests, such as the #ENDSARS movement, have had a regrettable history of destabilizing the peace and security of our great state and the country at large. It is conspicuous that the organizers of this protest are ill intended as they aim to create an avenue for criminal elements to loot and destroy state and National assets as well as properties of innocent and hardworking Nigerians.
As responsible organization representing the interests of Nigerian students in Kogi State, we firmly believe that peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement with the government are the most effective means to address our concerns and push for positive change.
We acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of the youth and students friendly Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo in maintaining peace and promoting the development of our beloved state and his strong commitment to youth empowerment and students development. It is important that we demonstrates faith in his leadership by refraining from any activities that can destabilize the peace of our dear state.
We urge our fellow youth, especially the students community in Kogi State, to remain calm, law-abiding and focused on their studies. Let us be proactive in engaging with our respective representatives and authorities to address our concerns and channel our energy towards productive ventures that will enhance our personal growth and contribute to the development of our state.
We sincerely appreciate the usual understandings and supports of our fellow students and the general public and we seize this opportunity to renew our commitment to the progress and development of Kogi State.
