“Apply for Nigerian Student Loan” – Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu Urge Students in Tertiary Institutions

The Technical Assistant on Communication, Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu LLB, has called on Nigerian students in Tertiary Institutions across the Country to take advantage of the Nigerian Students Loan fund through https://nelf.gov.ng/.

 

Amb. Nwachukwu in a statement he personally signed in Abuja, expressed displeasure that while some students are still doubting the reality of the loan their counterparts are already receiving payment for their tuition fees and monthly allowance.

He stated that the Nigerian Students Loan Fund is an Act of the National Assembly of Nigeria signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Nigerian students to access zero interest loans to enable them pay for institutional charges and upkeep in any higher Institution in the Country.

 

Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu explained that the students Loan is open to all new and existing students in all Public Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education or Vocational Schools while the institutions must submit complete data of students of such institution which include matric number, department, full name, JAMB number, institution fees among others to the NELFUND SVS.

 

The Technical Assistant on Communication stressed that the loan disbursements are made at the beginning of the session of each Institution’s Academic calendar and presently, NELFUND has disbursed N2,530,235,750 loans to 22,120 students while N442,400,000 has been allocated as upkeep allowance for the benefiting students.

 

He revealed that University of Ilorin, Federal University Dutsin-ma, Bayero University Kano, University of Ibadan, University of Benin, University of Maiduguri have received full payment for their students that applied while other Institutions will receive theirs in the coming weeks.

 

Nwachukwu emphasized that NELFUND will pay the fees directly into the account of the applicants institutions while the upkeep allowance will be paid to the applicant on a monthly installment basis.

 

He warned Nigerian students not to make any form of payment to any individual for the facilitation of the loan as the loan is completely free to all eligible students.
