Anambra YAN Election: Comr. Ezeani Chidubem Mayor Reveals Why he is Contesting

In less than 15 hours, Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) Anambra State Chapter will conduct her 4th Republic election in Awka, the State capital.

In the said election, I am an Aspirant, contesting for the post of YAN Speaker Anambra State, to be among other 35 and FCT YAN Speakers of Nigeria.

My core reason of contesting might not appear differently from what one may have heard in the past but I believe it’s time for us to rise and do things differently.

To some, a youth organization is just an avenue to regroup young people to either extort money from the rich or play sycophant game to the government and politicians to get peanuts but to me, I see Youth organization as an ample opportunity to leverage the teeming population to correct the wrongs in the society and prepare their mind with futuristic prospect that will guarantee a better and green future.

Let’s tress back to the 1960s- 80s, the pattern of youth organizations then were the leaders then, simply because they prepared themselves for leadership knowing what they can do with their numbers than falling to few Naira notes that can’t sustain the future.

Today in Nigeria, the youths are struggling to revive their place despite the fact that the youth population is in the increase. This is simply because of the type of the system we are operating currently. The system that doesn’t encourage modern practical like modern education, skills and entrepreneurship.

It’s also painful that some of our parents are weaponizing the deplorable system by encouraging their children to go into Yahoo instead of digital technology. Sending their children to extra moral classes instead of vocational training schools to learn a skill or skills at a tender age so as to become a professional at the early of his or her adult age.

The concurrent issues of unemployment among the graduates in Nigeria is highly orchestrated by the type of education we have continued to acquire in Nigeria. This type of education can hardly make 10% of each year graduates employable. While 95% of graduates from vocational schools automatically employs themselves even before graduation, yet our education system have not prioritize it and our parents are yet to adapt Chinese style.

Agriculture which is greater than gold mining and crude is the least in the mind of our political leaders while some youths sees it as a smelling and dirty activities but it’s the shortest means of getting rich but due to our government placed less value to it, such has became a dying horse but would have be a source of revival and sustainability of our economy if prioritized with a high volume of funds. This is another part I keenly have interest as a Youth.

In summary, am contesting for Anambra State YAN Speaker to create a framework with our teeming youth of same vision to speak to our government to seriously look into our education system and change the existence curriculum so as to meet the modern standard that will make the young ones better by being practically realistic of what will be taught at schools.

Secondly, I am out for this contest for the YAN Speaker in Anambra State to also speak to the parents to swap from offering their children extra moral classes to vocational training schools to enable their kids have early knowledge of skills through which they can become self reliant early enough.

Achieving these two goals will drastically reduce massive unemployment, cyber crime, political slavery, prostitution, and poverty among the youths in the next one decade, then revamp the youths prestige, recognition and command due respect from all quarters.

All I require from you is your candid support because am very much ready to make impact that will bring a sincere change.

Thank you all.

Regards:
Comr. Ezeani Chidubem Mayor.
