Elulu: MATC, Family Hold Prayers for First Anniversary of Late Oba Julius Olufunsho Joledo, as MTC, MWS Names Mopa City Hall After Him

Mopamuro Traditional Council (MATC) has marked the first anniversary since the immediate past Elulu of Mopa, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Late Oba Julius Olufunsho Joledo went to meet with his acnestors today.

He passed on 22nd of October, 2023, at age 82.

The program, which was held in Mopa at the instance of the incumbent Elulu of Mopa, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa Ibeun, the family of Late Oba Joledo, and the entire MATC had in attendance Kings and Chiefs outside Mopamuro, clergymen of both the Christian and Islamic faith, head of clans, residents, indigens and others.

Oba Ibeun, during his speech, appreciates everyone for coming, and that as part of Late Oba Joledo’s family, he advises everyone to follow the footsteps of the Late Monarch, forgive everyone who has “gored your ox” which is the only way to live in peace and harmony and achieve that which the late Oba wants everyone and Mopa to achieve, he added.

As a way to further write the name of Late Oba Joledo in the heart of the people due to his numerous good deeds, Oba Ibeun in agreement with other members of Mopa Traditional Council (MTC), named Mopa City Hall after the Late Oba.

He said that just as he has been led by the ancestors of Mopa Land, and he has consulted with the President of Mopa Welfare Society (MWS), he declared that the name of the hall with immediate effect is now “Late Oba Julius Olufunsho Joledo Hall”.

Immediately, other persons in attendance yelled in joy and appreciation, unanimously agreed that it is the best decision to take and that they all support it.

Earlier speaking, onbehalf of the children, Prince John Omobolu Joledo described his Late Dad as the best father he ever knew, adding that he is a man of “inestimable value” and great “inner peace.”

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Joseph James testified that Late Oba Joledo cared for all as though he biologically birthed them, emphasizing that his humanity has no end.

Elder Stephen Ajimba, as the secretary of Mopa Welfare Society, spoke in his capacity representing the Community Development Association, testified that Late Oba Joledo was a man who selfless and generous

The Ajugbonjagun of Orokere-Amuro, HRH, Oba M.O. Arogbonlo, standing in for the Alamuro of Amuro, HRM Oba (Engr.) Modupe Alfred Aiyedogbon, said he witnessed Late Oba Joledo as a very jovial, cheerful, warm and receptive person.

The Balogun of Mopa and Oba of Okedagun, Odole, Mopa, HRH, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Clarence Olafemi testified that Late Oba Joledo lived like a king indeed, standing for the truth and always doing the right.

Other speakers and clergymen who spoke differently said the Late Oba was a man who loved God and prayers, with endless love for not only Mopa but Mopamuro generally and can also do anything for the development of Mopamuro.

Rev. Dr. D.O. Daniyan, who gave a short sermon from Psalm 116:15, said the demise of Late Oba Joledo is precious just according to the Bible, emphasizing that he is a Saint.

The Chief Imam of Imam of Mopa, Alhaji Dare Yusuf Babalola, during his sermon, said what he learnt from the life of the immediate past Elulu, he will use to give an advise to everyone, that everyone should continue to do what they know how to do best and that they will receive the reward.

Former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Olu Akande, asked others to learn from the life of Late Oba Joledo that he is still an example till death.

The Late Oba Julius Olufunsho Joledo was survived by wives, children, and grandchildren.
