Students Extortion: Education Commissioner Cracks Down on Unethical Practices

Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones FCIB cracks down on student extortion at Muslim Community Secondary School, Lokoja. The Commissioner,l paid an unscheduled visit to Muslim Community Secondary School in Lokoja today to inspect the activities of the school and reiterate his commitment to the free education policy of Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo.

During his visit, Hon. Jones warned the staff of the school against extorting students, stating that the government’s free education policy is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on parents and ensuring that every child has access to quality education.

“The days of extorting students for personal gain are over,” Hon. Jones emphasized. “Any principal or teacher caught engaging in such unethical behavior will face serious consequences.”

The Commissioner also encouraged the students to focus on their studies and be good ambassadors for their school and community.

Accompanied by a team from the Ministry of Education, including Mr. Ere Salami, Director of Basic Secondary Education, and Mrs. Egbeleye Ebunlomo, Director of Exams, Hon. Jones conducted a thorough inspection of the school premises to ensure that students are receiving the education they deserve.

With this surprise visit, Hon. Wemi Jones FCIB has made it clear that he is dedicated to ensuring that every child in Kogi State has access to a quality education free from corruption and exploitation.
