Kogi To Set Up Education Task Force For School Inspection, Supervision

In her effort to restore the glory of primary and secondary Education in the State, Kogi State Government has concluded planned to set up Education Monitoring Team in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

The State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, disclosed this at the stakeholders meeting for the reformation of Kogi Education Task Force, on Tuesday in Lokoja.

According to Jones, the Eleven-Man Team members would be drawn from NUT, ASUSS, ES, AEE’s, NAPPS, AMIS, Religious and Traditional Institutions, PTA , Youth Organizations amongst others, across the local government levels in the State.

He said that the task force would be empowered to monitor, inspect and evaluate primary and secondary schools in the state to ensure full the implementation of Government policies and programs in education.

The commissioner appealed to the stakeholders to work with the ministry to restore the lost glory of education.

He stressed that government alone will not be be able to address the challenges in education, emphasizing that only team work can produced greater results.

He emphasised that education was not all about spending money, but proper planning and execution of Government policies and programs.

He said that the state gvovernment has made huge investment in Education and would not allow it to go to waste.

“Successful Government in Kogi State since 2016, the Commissioner stated have been able to plan well for the overall development of education in the State.

“The Government of Alhaji. Usman Ahmed Ododo will continue to build on the solid foundation already put in place by his predecessor, Alhaji. Yahaya Bello in Education.

“His Excellency is committed to making sure that at any risk the investment made in Education would not be ruined,” he said.

“As a government, we will like to know if teachers are teaching according to the curriculum, and also to get feedback on the schools’ challenges.

Speaking, the special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Abdullahi Abdulmalik, commended the Commissioner for the initiative.

Abdulmalik said the Education Monitoring Team would be saddled with the responsibility of inspecting and monitoring of schools and also sensitized students against indulging in social vices.

In his remarks, the Chairman Forum of Education Secretaries, Kogi Local Government Education Secretary, Mr. Salihu Adamu Usman, commended the State Government for prioritizing Education.

Usman promised that the Forum of Education Secretaries would continue to do their best in implementing government policies and programs in Education in the State.

The meeting was added by the Education Secretaries from the 21 Local Government Areas of the State and the Zonal Directors of Education, STETSCOM.
