The Grand Kadi, Kogi State Sharia Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Abdulkareem Aruwa has appealed to the State Government to establish Produce and Price Control Agency in the Confluence State.
Justice Aruwa made the appeal while felicitating with Muslims on the occasion of the 1446AH Islamic New Year Message in Lokoja, the State Capital.
The Grand Kadi while congratulating Muslim Ummah for witnessing the occasion, said the call became necessary following the recent price hike on food Commodities Nationwide, not excepting Kogi State.
He said the Price and Control Agency will help to alleviate the hardship and remove from Kogi State, the tag of “the most costly State in Nigeria”.
Justice Aruwa suggested that Traditional Rulers and Religious Leaders across the State to also set up Committee to regulate and monitor produce and prices in their various localities.
While describing the Islamic New Year as a significant and crucial occasion for reflection, retrospection and rededication to the cause of virtues and righteousness, Justice Aruwa enjoined Muslims to use the privilege of witnessing it to renew their faith and commitment to virtues of righteousness.
Justice Aruwa on behalf of Muslim Ummah felicitated with Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, commending him for his material support to religious organizations in the State and prayed to Allah to reward him abundantly.
He called on Muslims to use the occasion to intensify prayers for good, responsible and responsive leadership in the Country and also supplicate intensely that Allah should come to the aid of the people in the face of the current hardship.
The Grand Kadi used the occasion to welcome and congratulate the 2024 Kogi State Hajj Pilgrims for their successful pilgrimage and safe return, praying to Allah to grant answers to their prayers at the holy land.
