Rana Basharat Ali Khan Calls for Urgent Global Response to Escalating Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

The Chairman and Founder of the International Human Rights Movement (IHRM), Rana Basharat Ali Khan, has made an urgent appeal for international action in response to the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The recent intensification of the conflict, marked by widespread evacuations and severe restrictions on aid, has led to unprecedented levels of suffering among the civilian population.

In recent days, the Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for thousands of residents in central and eastern Khan Younis, a region in southern Gaza. This follows similar directives in the north, leading to the displacement of tens of thousands.

The affected areas, spanning over 43 square kilometers, include numerous displacement sites, essential water and sanitation facilities, and critical healthcare infrastructure. As of now, nearly 80% of Gaza has been subjected to such evacuation orders since the conflict escalated in October.

“The scale of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza is beyond comprehension. The ongoing military actions, coupled with the forced displacement of civilians and severe shortages of basic necessities, are creating a catastrophic situation. It is imperative that the international community takes immediate action to protect the rights and lives of those affected.”

The delivery of humanitarian aid has become increasingly difficult, with the number of aid trucks entering Gaza reduced to fewer than 80 per day, compared to the pre-conflict average of 500. The restrictions have led to severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies, pushing hospitals to the brink of collapse. Only a handful of hospitals remain partially operational, struggling to manage the overwhelming number of casualties.

The International Human Rights Movement is deeply concerned by reports of possible plans to forcibly transfer Gaza’s civilian population to third Countries, a move that would constitute a grave violation of international law.

Khan emphasized the urgent need for global leaders and organizations to address these violations and work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

“The forced displacement and potential transfer of civilians from Gaza must be condemned in the strongest terms. We call upon the international community to ensure that the rights of the Palestinian people are respected and that humanitarian aid is allowed to reach those in desperate need”.

The International Human Rights Movement is actively coordinating with partners on ground to provide emergency assistance to those affected by the conflict. Despite the significant challenges, the organization remains committed to its mission of advocating for human rights and delivering aid to those in need.
