The Bill for the creation of Okura State has been described as one that will bring governance closer to the people.
The House of Representatives Member Representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem (SEA), made the assertion while reacting to the Bill which was sponsored by his Colleague, Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims.
Hon. SEA however opposes the inclusion of Ajaokuta Local Government Area in the Proposed Okura State, arguing that the Area is in Kogi Central and not in Kogi East.
Meanwhile, a Point of Oder was raised by the House Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda of the Peoples Democratic Party, where he said it is not supposed to be a Bill presented to the House of Representatives as it does not follow what the Constitution permits in Section 8, stressing that the Constitutional process is not by presenting a Bill in the House but a Request on State Creation.
