“As a philantropic and humanity organisation, the LSF has decided to join the worldwide campaign, thereby sensitising the public on how to prevent breast cancer and also how to seek solutions for it.”he added.
LSF provided nurses to train women on self-examination to detect breast cancer at an early stage and also to prevent it.
Earlier, a medical expert, Dr. Jimmy Idama revealed that heavy drinking of alcohol, smoking, drug and substance abuse has been linked to an increased rate of cancer amongst women.
He said it has been observed that some women are also shy and that they will have more opportunity in an awareness programme to make them relate their challenges and experiences.
Mr. Usman seized the opportunity to call on the government to support the awareness against breast cancer, stressing that a stitch in time saves nine.
Madam Bilikisu Haji, part of the participants and/or beneficiaries, said the awareness has enlightened her more to prevent and/or treat breast cancer. She urged the LSF to expand their reach to others who may be ignorant of the symptoms.
